Adopt-A-Teacher giveaway helps say ‘thank you’ to school employees in Milan

MILAN, Tnen. — Every employee in the Milan Special School District is getting a gift ahead of the new school year.

It’s a way to show appreciation for their hard work and taking care of the students. The giveaway took place Monday morning. They started loading gifts at 7:30 a.m.

The first stop was at Milan High School, then the middle school and elementary school. Organizers say the elementary school drop off is usually the most exciting.

“This is a wonderful profession, we love what we do, and it just makes us feel so good to know that people care about us, they think about us, and they do such wonderful things for us. And I am very appreciative and thankful for this opportunity and everything that’s been given to me. It is indeed a blessing and a pleasure, and I am thankful,” said Niki Claybrooks, pre-k teacher at Milan Elementary School.

Adopt-A-Teacher began during Covid in 2020 as a way to say ‘thank you’ to local teachers.
