Better Business Bureau: Beware of scams before you buy
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Better Business Bureau urges communities to research a business before you buy.
If the business you are researching is in an industry that requires a competency license, you can check with the relevant agency to verify that their license is current and hasn’t been revoked for misconduct.
Buyers should also check for a physical address and ask for references and have proper insurance policy information.
“You always have to be sure do your research and familiarize yourself with any terms and conditions. Look for a refund policy. A protocol for contacting the company in the event of a dispute. Locally, in West Tennessee, we have consumers that are ordering things and, unfortunately, when they actually get those things back it’s not what they expected,” said Toddnetta Trice, communications specialist for the Better Business Bureau.
For new advancements in voice AI scams, always check in with a friend or family member personally to ensure safe purchases.
