Hub City Theatre Company to present ‘The Last Five Years’

PRESS RELEASE FROM HUB CITY THEATRE COMPANY:

Tickets on Sale Now for Hub City Theatre Company’s Production of The Last Five Years
A raw, intimate musical performed in a unique Jackson venue with rotating casts and immersive staging

JACKSON, TN — July 28, 2025 — Hub City Theatre Company (HCTC), Jackson’s home for “odd shows in intimate spaces,” is proud to present The Last Five Years, Jason Robert Brown’s emotionally gripping two-person musical, on stage August 1–17 at Turntable Coffee Counter, 300 E. Main Street in Jackson, TN.

Performances begin at 7:30 PM Friday and Saturday, with a 3:00 PM Sunday matinee, in an intimate setting that puts the audience right in the emotional center of the story.

Told through a bold nonlinear structure, The Last Five Years traces the rise and fall of a relationship—Jamie moves forward through time, while Cathy moves backward—revealing the heartbreak of missed connections and the beauty of remembered love.

HCTC’s production features three rotating casts across three weekends, offering audiences a fresh take with every visit. The stripped-down staging puts every lyric and silence under a microscope, drawing viewers into the most vulnerable corners of the characters’ hearts.

Before opening weekend, HCTC invites patrons to a special Preview Party on Thursday, July 31 at 7:00 PM, also held at Turntable Coffee Counter. Tickets are $40 and include first access to the show, a deli-inspired menu, cocktails and refreshments, and a chance to meet the cast and creative team. (Preview Party tickets do not include the $5 coffee voucher offered on regular show nights.)

General admission tickets for regular performances are $25 and include a $5 drink voucher for Turntable Coffee Counter, creating a casual, café-style setting before the lights go down. With limited seating due to the venue’s cozy size, early reservations are encouraged. Tickets are available now at hubcitytheatreco.com and via Purplepass.

“This show is a perfect match for our mission,” says director Crista Beals. “It’s unconventional, emotionally raw, and driven entirely by character and connection. The Last Five Years asks what it means to love, to grow, and to lose each other—and our rotating casts let us explore those ideas from multiple angles. We’ve developed three incredibly unique and powerful shows. You’ll want to see them all!”

This production continues HCTC’s 2025 season theme, The Passions That Drive Us, highlighting stories that explore ambition, love, heartbreak, and transformation.
