JMCSS kicks off school year with back-to-school festival for employees

JACKSON, Tenn. — To celebrate the end of summer break, the Jackson-Madison County School System held a back to school festival exclusively for its employees.

Teachers and staff with JMCSS gathered at Liberty Tech High School for EduFest.

Each school in the district was there to spread school spirit and even competed in a tent decorating contest. They had multiple activities across campus including basketball, volleyball, board games, karaoke and much more.

“It has been a great success! We are just excited to welcome students this coming Monday, August the 4th–the first day of school. So, we’re excited to kick off this 2025-2026 school year,” said Melissa Spurgeon, chief of staff for JMCSS.

Organizers also grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for attendees to enjoy.
