Many Folks Hit 100° on Tuesday, Relief Coming Later this Week!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
So many of us in West Tennessee are experiencing our first 100° day of the summer and first of 2025! It feels between 115-120° as well in some locations this afternoon. No relief in the rain department is coming this evening. There is a chance for some showers and storms on Thursday as a weak cold front is expected to pass through. The front will drop temperatures about 10-15 degrees but will be cutting the dew point down as well making it feel much nice for Friday and into the upcoming weekend. Catch the latest on the heat and storm chances where you live coming up here.

THIS WEEK:
After a little cooler, but still hot, weather this weekend, the extreme heat returned on Monday and will be going nowhere for the first few days of the work week. Highs will reach the upper 90s and some 100° are expected through Wednesday. The weather will also be very humid making it feel over 110° the next few afternoon and evenings as well. This may end up being the hottest weather in 2025 so please take the necessary precautions if you are going to be out and about in this heat. A legit cold front though is coming on Thursday, so be patient if you can.

Tuesday ended up being a little hotter for some of us than it was on Monday with several locations recording their first triple digit days of the summer. Highs again reach the upper 90s with some 100s in the mid afternoon hours. Skies remained mostly sunny and although a few pop ups tried to get going, they failed and we will be dry for the rest of the night. The winds were calm most of the day and will stay that way overnight into Wednesday morning. Tuesday night lows will only drop to the mid to upper 70s.

Wednesday will be the last really hot day for awhile but will be another scorcher. The EXTREME heat warning remains in effect though Wednesday night before expiring early Thursday morning. Like Monday and Tuesday, highs will again reach the upper 90s to near 100° on Wednesday. The heat index will again feel between 110-115° between noon and 7pm. There might be a few more clouds on Wednesday and a slightly better chance to encounter a pop up shower or brief rain storms. Chances are 30% on Wednesday. Wednesday night lows will fall down into the mid 70s t0 start your Thursday.

Some really great news is on tap for our Thursday. A cold front will pass in the afternoon and bring some relief in the extreme heat. It will also bring a pretty good shot for some rain and likely some storms. As of now, chances are 60% in West Tennessee. There could be a couple strong or severe wind storms so we will be needing to watch that on Thursday as they move through. We will likely be under a level 1 or 2 for severe storms before they get here Thursday afternoon. Highs on Thursday will reach the low 90s before the clouds and showers start. Thursday night lows will drop down to the low 70s. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Thursday and northerly winds after the front passes.

Some showers and storms may linger into Friday depending on how long it takes for the front to move out of our area. Chances for rain are 30% and will be more likely during the first half of the day if they do redevelop. Highs on Friday will be in the mid 80s, much cooler than earlier in the week. Friday will also not be a humid day as the air mass behind the front will be drier as well as cooler. Friday night lows will fall down below 70° for the first time in a few weeks. Expect a mostly cloudy day and a steady light breeze out of the north.
THIS WEEKEND:
As of now we are expecting a cooler, mild and dry weekend. We are not 100% ruling out showers as of now but it will be cooler with highs in the mid 80s. Both mornings will be nice as well with temperatures starting out in the upper 60s to kick off the day. We are expecting a mostly sunny weekend too with the winds coming out of the northeast on Saturday and back to the east on Sunday. The forecast could change a bit as the weekend gets closer but it seems like it is going to be a really nice last weekend for many students in West Tennessee that will have to head back to school the following Monday!
