Salvation Army of Jackson hosts school supply distribution events
JACKSON, Tenn. — One organization is making sure kids have the tools they need to return to the classroom.
The Salvation Army of Jackson and community partners are hosting several school supply distribution events. One was held Wednesday in Jackson.
Newly crowned Miss Tennessee Volunteer 2026, Meghan Poore, was also there to welcome families.
Families who need assistance can attend the event most convenient for them to receive free backpacks and school supplies.
“With Miss Volunteer America putting an emphasis on education, I just think it’s such an incredible opportunity, not only for us to be able to exemplify that, but to actually get to see the faces of the students that we’re impacting. Because, we’re really helping future leaders, and that’s exactly what we’re trying to do with this organization,” said Alexa Macarthur, Miss Tennessee Teen Volunteer 2026.
This distribution is set for Friday, August 1 behind the Hardeman County Board of Education in Bolivar.
The Humboldt distribution will be held Friday, August 8 at the Boys & Girls Club of Humboldt.
