Still Hot on Thursday, Late Night Front to Bring a few Storms & Cooler Weather to West TN!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

It has been another hot day for our Wednesday in the upper 90s but the humidity is a little lower. This is impacting how hot it feels today with heat indices maxing out around 105°. This is much cooler than the 115° from Tuesday. This is due to the dew points being in the low 70s today instead of the upper 70s. The atmosphere is a bit drier due to a northeast breeze drawing in a semi-dry pocket of air keeping any rain chances away today. Thursday is also going to be hot but late in the day, a cold front is going to pass through, bringing some relief from the heat as well as a few storms or rain showers late in the day. Much cooler weather is coming for Friday and into the upcoming weekend. Catch all the details coming up here.

Like Monday and Tuesday, highs will again reach the upper 90s to near 100° on Wednesday. The heat index will only felt as high as 105° between noon and 7pm. Some really great news is on tap for our Thursday but it is not going to show up until later in the day. A cold front will pass in the late night hours into Friday morning and bring some relief in the extreme heat. It will also bring a pretty good shot for some rain and likely some storms. As of now, chances are 40% in West Tennessee late in the day into Thursday night. There could be a couple wind storms so we will be needing to watch that on Thursday as they move through, but overall we are NOT expecting severe storms. We will at most be under a level 1 for severe storms before they get here Thursday evening/night.  Highs on Thursday will reach the mid to upper 90s before the clouds and showers start. Thursday night lows will drop down to the low 70s. Expect a partly cloudy day on Thursday and northwest winds after the front passes.

Some showers and storms may linger into Friday depending on how long it takes for the front to move out of our area. Chances for rain are 30% and will be more likely during the first half of the day if they do redevelop. Highs on Friday will be in the mid 80s, much cooler than earlier in the week. Friday will also not be a humid day as the air mass behind the front will be drier as well as cooler. Friday night lows will fall down below 70° for the first time in a few weeks. Expect a mostly cloudy day and a steady light breeze out of the north.

THIS WEEKEND:

As of now we are expecting a cooler, mild and dry weekend. We are not 100% ruling out showers as of now but it will be cooler with highs in the mid 80s. Both mornings will be nice as well with temperatures starting out in the upper 60s to kick off the day. We are expecting a mostly sunny weekend too with the winds coming out of the northeast on Saturday and back to the east on Sunday. The forecast could change a bit as the weekend gets closer but it seems like it is going to be a really nice last weekend for many students in West Tennessee that will have to head back to school the following Monday!
