Cooler Behind Thursday’s Front, Mostly Dry & Mild Weekend Coming!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
As a cold front approached West Tennessee a line of scattered showers and weak storms developed. It still felt around 105° at 3pm in Jackson and most of us did reach the mid 90s again Thursday. Check out the forecast heat index for Friday… I must say “Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes!” haha! Cooler weather will be sticking around for the weekend. Morning lows will drop into the mid 60s for the first time since the middle of June (before summer even officially started!

THIS WEEK:
Some really great news showed up for our Thursday, but the cooler weather will take its time as it moves in tonight into the day on Friday. A cold front passed in the afternoon/evening and will bring some relief from the extreme heat. The front also brought a round of rain and some weak storms with it. As of the evening, chances are 40% in West Tennessee for the rest of the day and into Thursday night. There could be a couple wind storms so we will be needing to watch that on Thursday as they move through, but overall we are NOT expecting severe storms.

Highs on Thursday still reached the mid 90s before the clouds and showers started popping up in the afternoon. Thursday night lows will drop down to the low 70s. We saw a partly cloudy day on Thursday and northwest winds after the front passes that will be sticking around into Friday as well as the weekend.

Some showers and storms may linger into Friday depending on how long it takes for the front to move out of our area. Chances for rain are 30% and will be more likely during the first half of the day if they do redevelop. Highs on Friday will be in the mid 80s, much cooler than earlier in the week. Friday will also not be a humid day as the air mass behind the front will be drier as well as cooler. Friday night lows will fall down below 70° for the first time in a few weeks. Expect a mostly cloudy day and a steady light breeze out of the north.

THIS WEEKEND:
As of now we are expecting a cooler, mild and dry weekend. We are not 100% ruling out showers as of now but it will be cooler with highs in the mid 80s. Both mornings will be nice as well with temperatures starting out in the upper 60s to kick off the day. We are expecting a mostly sunny weekend too with the winds coming out of the northeast on Saturday and back to the east on Sunday. The forecast could change a bit as the weekend gets closer but it seems like it is going to be a really nice last weekend for many students in West Tennessee that will have to head back to school the following Monday!

NEXT WEEK:
The near normal temperatures will stick around for the first half of next week across West Tennessee. Highs will stay in the upper 80s for Monday and Tuesday. Skies will be partly cloudy to kick off the week and there could be a few showers or Monday and Tuesday but most of us will be missing out. The winds will come out of the southeast on Monday and east on Tuesday on the back side of a low pressure system. Rain chances will move out during the middle of the week and we should see more sunshine during the middle of the week as well. The winds will turn back to the northwest on Wednesday and back to the southwest on Thursday. This may start a warm up and temperatures will reach back into the 90s by the back half of next week.
