Organizations in Alamo partner to offer school supply giveaway
ALAMO, Tenn.—In Alamo, local organizations partnered together to offer students free school supplies.
A Back To School Giveaway was held at Wortham Chapel Baptist Church.
The giveaway kicked off at 11 Saturday morning and offered everything from paper, pencils, back packs, almost anything needed to start off the school year.
The event also offered free food for those who attended.
“We want to make sure that we not only meet the elementary needs but we’re also making sure we meet the middle school needs and also the high school needs. We thought it was very vital this year to make sure the scholar came with them to be able to pick out the backpacks and all of the great tools that we have for them this year,” said Lakeesha Holloway, First Lady of Wortham Chapel.
The event was sponsored by Whitlee Walker, the Crockett Co. NAACP, and members from Community Cogic, Bells Chapel, Wortham Chapel and New First Baptist.
