Newel Jerome Turner
Newel Jerome Turner, 72, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025.
He was born on October 21, 1952, in Madison County, Tennessee, and spent his life rooted in the community he loved.
A proud and dedicated tradesman, Newel worked as a pipefitter for S.M. Lawrence Company from 1978 until his retirement in 2020. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and the friendships he built over more than four decades in the field.
Newel was an avid outdoorsman who found joy and peace in nature. Whether hunting, fishing, or simply spending time outside, he appreciated the beauty of the world around him and passed that love on to his family.
On June 3, 1971, he married the love of his life, Sharon Jones, and together they shared more than 50 years of devotion and partnership.
Newel was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mae Evans Turner.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Jones Turner; two sons, Newel Jerome Turner II (Angie) and Lee Turner; two grandchildren, Karley Elizabeth Turner and Keaton Alan Turner; and his brother, Jeff Turner. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
A graveside service to celebrate Newel’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Highland Memorial Gardens.
His legacy of love, hard work, and faith will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
