Henry County Fair is back through August 16

PARIS, Tenn. — Get your cowboy boots ready, because the Henry County Fair is officially back!

The annual Henry County Fair is officially in full swing, with the dairy cattle show to start the morning.

This year’s theme is a barn-raising, hay-grazing good time.

The community came out to support the youth showcasing both dairy heifers and cows.

“Moving here, it really opened my eyes to see the community all come together, and I think it’s more than just my showing that I do,” said Abby Smith, Junior Showman, Tri-Springs Jerseys.

These contestants are dressed in white to represent dairy. They were judged in several categories, including how well they interacted with their animal.

“With dairy cows, it’s really a big part of bonding with your animals,” Smith said. “She’ll hear me talking, and she’ll run from the whole entire farm over to me.”

The fair promotes Tennessee agriculture and community togetherness, while featuring a variety of activities for all ages.

“We’re getting to communicate with the public and getting to advocate for agriculture to the best of our abilities, and helping others understand why this is so important, because your food doesn’t just come from a grocery store. It comes from these farmers that are working hard each and every day, 365 days a year, to make sure that we are having the quality food that we all need to survive and sustain a quality life,” said Lucy Beth Jackson, TN FFA State Treasure.

There are loads of activities happening throughout this fair week.

“We have the tractor pull,” Smith said. “We have the livestock show. We have the dairy show. We have so many things for farmers to come out and show what they do or to spread knowledge about what they do.”

And several cool rides will be returning Wednesday at 5 in the evening, so don’t miss out.
