Jake Daniel Rhea, known to everyone as J.D., passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 86.

He was born on May 4, 1939, in Newport, Tennessee, and was a longtime resident of Jackson, Tennessee. J.D. was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was marked by hard work, faith, and love for his family. He was the owner and operator of Grisham Stave Corporation in Medon, Tennessee, where he built lasting relationships through his dedication and integrity. For over 40 years, he was a faithful member of Meridian Baptist Church, where his presence and fellowship blessed many. J.D. loved to create things with his hands using wood and metal and has left behind many items his family will continue to cherish.

On November 10, 1961, J.D. married the love of his life, the former Jo Ann Wise. Together they shared over 63 years of marriage, raising a family grounded in love and Christian values.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nora Holt Rhea, and his brother, Mose Rhea.

J.D. is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Wise Rhea; daughters, Terri Hammonds, Denise White (Brad), and Melanie Wilburn (Joey); bonus daughter Michelle Mask; grandchildren, Lindsey Joyner (Scott), Matt Hammonds (Sarah), Rheagan Wilburn, and Chris Oller; bonus grandchildren, Bailey Long (Derek) and Shelby White; great-grandchildren, Caden Holley, Laken Holley, Jake Holley, Jared Holley, Lincoln Hammonds, and Norah Hammonds; and bonus great-grandchildren, Aubrey Freeman, Maddie Bedocs, Jayce Long, and Jaiden Pilkington.

Graveside services to celebrate the life of J.D. Rhea will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ridgecrest Cemetery, with Bro. Tim Bass of Meridian Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow the service.

J.D. will be remembered for his steadfast faith, devotion to his family, and the quiet strength that guided him throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the American Heart Association.
