‘It is a terrible situation’: Multiple dogs found alone at vacant Dresden home
DRESDEN, Tenn. — Some concerned residents reached out to us Tuesday regarding several dogs at a vacant house.
“This is a situation like I have never seen in my whole entire life. It is a terrible situation that these dogs are having to live like this,” said Ashley, a nearby resident.
There are over 50 dogs inside and outside of a house in Dresden, with nobody at home to take care of them.
“They’ve been left with no food or water for at least a week or more,” said Ashley.
The Weakley County Sheriff’s Office informed us that two of the residents have been incarcerated and one of them should be released soon. Ashley and Curtis say they have been helping as best as they can.
“So we’ve been bringing food and water here and I have contacted the pound. They are also out here helping us. Also the local sheriff’s department, we have contacted them. There’s been residents in the local community who have reached put to the sheriff’s department,” said Ashley.
Dogs of all ages were seen on the property, with multiple litters being recently born.
“Ages around three to four. Some drop down to a year. You’ve got some that are probably six to eight months old. They go all the way down to a couple months and a couple weeks,” said Curtis.
The sheriff’s office also told us they have been out the last few days feeding and giving water to the dogs. They also told us they have been trying to find someone to take the dogs, but have found no luck at this time.
