Paula Jones Rogers
Born on September 12, 1953, in Jackson, she was the daughter of the late Archie Paul Jones and Frances Rosemond Stephenson Jones McCullough.
Paula’s life was centered around the people she loved. She shared an especially close bond with her sisters, treasuring a lifetime of inside jokes, shared adventures, and unwavering support. She also enjoyed a special, lifelong friendship with her cousin, Pam McBride. Whether with family or friends, Paula had a way of making everyone feel welcome, cared for, and at home.
A 1971 graduate of South Side High School, Paula discovered her love of basketball as a teenager—a passion that stayed with her for life. Years later, she became a beloved member of the West TN Madison Seniors team, competing in the National Seniors Championship several times and proudly winning in 2019 and 2023. She was as valued for her competitive spirit and court skills as she was for her cooking, which her teammates happily looked forward to after games.
After high school, Paula attended cosmetology school in Dallas, TX, and worked for several years as a beautician. She spent parts of her younger life living in several different states, enjoying new places and experiences, before returning to her hometown to be near her family.
Paula is survived by her son, Garrison Paul Rogers; her grandchildren, Kylee, Bentley, Kennedy, and Camryn; her sisters, Sherry Ellis, Kathy Canovan (Milt), Debbie Jones, and Lisa Couch (Ken); and several nieces and nephews who will always remember her for her love, humor, and generosity. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Paul Jones.
In keeping with Paula’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Her family will honor her life privately, holding close the many ways she made their lives richer and brighter.
Paula had a great love for horses and riding with friends. The family requests that memorials in her memory be directed to Rein-bow Riding Academy which assists disabled people with horse therapy at https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/west-tennessee-healthcare/reinbowridingacademy
