Team of the Week- South Gibson
The South Gibson Hornets in last week’s jamboree performance they defeated the Peabody Golden Tide 30 to 14. Now they approached this matchup like it was a real
game number one because they played great defense but also looked
in mid-season form on the offensive side of the ball. They threw in some trick plays,
ran the ball effectively, and read the field well in the passing game. While
they ran for under 300 yards in just the first half. Now one of
the reasons for this is that they return 10 starters on offense and nine on defense.
Coach Johnson always says he wants his team to be fast and physical and it’s
early but they have shown just that. We caught up with head coach Ben Johnson
and he spoke about Friday’s game, talked about how injuries played a part in last
season and what they plan on doing against Franklin road academy.
we cant do that gotta clean that up overall though i thought we had some good plays i thought we played well offensively. Pretty good overall we feel good about you know our experience
factor is helping us to win some games so you know like i said you can never fully get away from
injuries we’ve already had a few injuries in the preseason this year but that is what it is we just want to play we just want to play our brand of football the guys have a bad taste in their mouth from last season and they want to remedy that and i think thats their goal alot of their goals are just to play physical tough football we want people to know what our brand of football is.”
