Local farmers treated to appreciation breakfast

DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — The Decatur County Fair is in full swing, and Friday, local farmers were celebrated with a special breakfast honoring their hard work and dedication to the community.

The morning began with a prayer and pledge led by local 4-H members.

After breakfast, attendees got the chance to check out impressive exhibits, showcasing everything from fresh-grown produce to sewing, photography, and more.

This year, farmers were treated to special giveaways and goodie bags to take home, adding a little extra gratitude to the event.

“A lot of the community donated for the buckets that we made,” said Cheyenne Rushing, UT Extension-Decatur County Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent. “We also gave away RC Colas and the ‘workin’ man’s lunch.'”

It’s all part of the Decatur County Extension’s mission to support the agricultural community.

“I work with farmers on the daily, and we just wanted to make sure that they felt appreciated,” Rushing said.

Next week, livestock shows will be held in the same building. Goat, sheep, cattle, and swine shows will be held Tuesday through Friday.

Shows are open to all counties across West Tennessee, and there’s still time to enter your livestock. Click here for information on entering the livestock shows.
