Tipster in Austin Drummond case to be awarded free recliner

JACKSON, Tenn. — Farmers Home Furniture in north Jackson will award a recliner to Ricardo Contreras, a man whose report helped lead to the capture of Austin Drummond.

He said he wasn’t looking for money when he made the call, instead Contreras says he’s grateful.

“I want to tell everyone thanks. Thanks a lot. It’s like I said, I really appreciate all the love they’ve given to me and especially this gift right here,” said Contreras.

The store showcased 14 recliners in various prices and materials for Contreras to choose from. Contreras chose a black leather recliner that he’s excited to use to relax after a long day of work.

“I think he ought to be appreciated for what he did. Our community really needs more people like Mr. Contreras to take initiative and keep us safe. We’re all a community and we appreciate him,” said Kennetta Mooney, Farmers Home Furniture manager.

The store placed the order for the recliner Friday.

The recliner will be awarded to Contreras next Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m. at Farmers Home Furniture on Old Hickory Boulevard. The public is invited to the event.
