Couple Rain Chances & Record Lows Possible this Week!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

It was a cool start with most of West Tennessee dropping into the 50s to kick off our work week. It has also been a mostly cloudy day as a low pressure system is passing just to the southwest of us. There is a chance this evening and early tonight for a few light showers with chances being the greatest in our southern counties. Tuesday is looking nice during the day but Tuesday night lows are forecast to dip down near record lows into the mid 50s. More rain is coming later in the week and temperatures will stay below normal during the forecast. Catch the latest information and a look at what appears to be a pretty nice weekend heading our way; all coming up here.

THIS WEEK:

After a pretty nice weekend, a cold front passed late on Sunday and really brought a fall feeling back to West Tennessee. We haven’t dropped below 55° in Jackson since May 5th and we did start our Monday off into the 50s for most of us. Highs did make it up to around 80° on Monday. A few showers will be possible this evening before tapering off after sunset. If you are south of Jackson you have a much better chance at getting wet than if you are north of the Hub City. The clouds will keep us above the mid 50s tonight but Tuesday night, we are expected to fall down to the low to mid 50s. The record in Jackson is 54° Wednesday morning and we could hit or break that mark!

Tuesday highs will reach the low 80s and we should see partly cloudy skies. The winds will stay out of the north east on Tuesday keeping the drier air around. Showers are not in the forecast on Tuesday or Wednesday. Skies will clear out Tuesday night allowing temperatures to drop quickly overnight into Wednesday morning. Plenty of sunshine is expected on Wednesday before more clouds return on Thursday. Highs on Wednesday will reach the mid 80s and we will drop down to around 60° for Thursday morning.

The best shot for rain this week is coming in on Thursday. A few weak storms will be possible but it looks like just typical rain chances for most of us. Like Monday, the best shot for measurable rain is going to be southwest of Jackson. Some areas close to Kentucky Lake may not see any rain at all and places near Memphis could pick up a couple inches of rain. All of us will be dealing with mostly cloudy skies and that will keep the temperatures down with highs only reaching the mid 70s on Thursday. Thursday night lows will fall down to the mid 50s again. Some of the rain could linger into Friday morning but by Friday afternoon, dry and mild weather will be returning. Highs on Friday will reach the low to mid 80s and the weather looks great again for Friday night Football in West Tennessee.

THIS WEEKEND:

Both days this weekend look pretty nice and mild across the Mid South. Highs will reach the mid 80s and morning lows will drop down to around 60° both day. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. The winds will come out of the northeast all weekend long keeping the humidity down as well. Shower chances as of now appear to be 10% at best both days. Make some plans this weekend, it looks like a great one for a BBQ for the first Saturday of college football for most teams in our area. There could be a few more showers as we kick off next week but confidence is low in that forecast at this time.
