Reception coming up for new historical exhibit at the Carnegie

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Carnegie Center for Arts and History’s new photography exhibit is sharing a real-life look into the past.

The exhibit’s opening reception will be held this Thursday, August 28, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The exhibit, named “Facing Depression”, is a collection of photographs taken by Dorothea Lange though the 1930s.

We spoke with Aaron Hardin, director of the Carnegie Center who shared more on who Dorothea Lange was, and why her work is important.

“So Dorothea Lange was really influential in the way we understand the effects of the great depression on the west and the south. So these images are a span from California all the way to the Deep South in the United States,” said Hardin.

The exhibition is free and opened to the public till November 29, 2025. For more information click here.
