Forecasting A New Record Low For Jackson
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
A dry, calm, and clear weather pattern has emerged for the middle portion of the week here in West Tennessee and much of the Mid-South. This shapes up for us to hit some very cool temperatures across the region, maybe even as far down as the low 50s.
Tonight:
The original record low in Jackson for August 26th is 54 degrees set all the way back in 1958. Tonight we are forecasting a low of 53 degrees for Hub City. Clear skies, calm winds, and low dew points will allow temperatures to cascade from the 80s this afternoon all the way down to the low 50s. It’s possible we overshoot the record and get even cooler with the conditions we’re expecting tonight.
Tomorrow:
Tomorrow will likely be a day very similar to today. The only difference will be some increasing cloud cover from the west which will not allow temperatures to fall quite as far as they will Tuesday night. Wednesday should still remain dry, but we may not stay dry all week this time around.
Thursday:
Chances for rain return Thursday afternoon around the time school will be getting out. There is a chance that since our drought conditions have worsened, that our flash flooding concern may be slightly elevated. There is a Slight Risk for Excessive Rainfall (NOT severe weather), so while you may not need it when you leave, take the rain gear with you.
Friday:
Friday will be a fantastic day for football here across West Tennessee. Highs will only get up to the mid-80s, but it may be a bit humid from Thursday’s rainfall. We’re looking at some fantastic weather for the weekend as well as temperatures look to return closer to average.
