Authorities investigate threat made toward Chester County High School

HENDERSON, Tenn. — A reported threat at Chester County High School prompted an immediate response from law enforcement.

The Chester County Sheriff’s Department was on campus early Thursday assessing the situation and the department of homeland security has been notified.

A message was sent out at approximately 11 a.m. by the school district, notifying the public of the situation.

“The decision was made with the SRO, sheriff’s department, homeland security. They were all communicated with. The investigation ensued,” said Troy Kilzer, superintendent for Chester County Schools.

According to Sheriff Mark Griffin, the threat was made by a student. Authorities confirm a note was located by the school resource officer, although its contents have not been released.

At this time, the student has been identified and was questioned. According to Kilzer, school operations were not interrupted.

We spoke with one student who stated she was unaware of a current threat.

Although an email was sent out informing them of the situation. As the investigation continues, Kilzer assures parents their students are safe.

“There is no immediate threat to students or staff at the high school,” said Kilzer.

No further details have been released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
