Suspect charged in recent officer-involved shooting

DYER COUNTY, Tenn. – On September 1, 2025, an officer-involved shooting occurred in Dyer County involving a suspect who has been subsequently booked on new charges related to the incident.

The suspect, identified as Jeremy Gray Lemons, (9/20/1980), has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Felony Evading Arrest (Dyer County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Reckless Endangerment (Dyer County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (Dyer County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony (Dyer County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle Over $1,000 (Newbern Police Department)
  • Three Counts of Theft of a Firearm (Newbern Police Department)

Lemons was arrested and booked into the Dyer County Jail today. He is scheduled to appear before the judge for arraignment on these charges tomorrow, at which time a bond will be set.

“I am extremely thankful that the officers on the scene utilized their comprehensive training, which helped to ensure the safety of both innocent bystanders and law enforcement during this arrest,” says Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box.
