First Friday Art Walk returns in the Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn. — The rain didn’t stop some of the fun planned in Jackson Friday evening.
September’s First Friday events kicked off at 5 p.m. Friday evening with the art walk.
“They are able to survive and thrive in our arts community. They are able to showcase their art, they do, and they’re able to sell it every time we have an art walk,” said Dr. Delita Johnson, executive director for the Jackson Arts Council.
The art walk also featured live music, street vendors, and various food stands from around Jackson.
Most of the stands in the art walk were along North Shannon Street from West Lafayette Street over to the Jackson Walk Plaza.
The art is across several different mediums, with one art stand on North Shannon featuring prints, stickers and pins. Many stands along the Jackson Walk Plaza also feature many different forms of apparel.
“Normally we range between 20 or more artists who showcase their works,” said Dr. Johnson.
Dr. Johnson said the turnout was a little lower than normal, but that’s expected since it was raining leading right up to the start of the event.
If you missed out on Friday night’s art walk, the next dates are October 3 and November 7.
On those dates, the event will be held at store fronts along East Main Street.
The Jackson Art Walk will be open from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. when it returns in the fall.
