Fatal train collision occurs near McKenzie
CARROLL CO., Tenn.—A train collided with a vehicle Saturday morning Sept. 6 near McKenzie. The collision happened at the railroad crossing located on Harris Road. Carroll County EMS responded to the scene.
Other media sources indicate that the vehicle was a bucket truck that attempted to cross the tracks and collided with the train. Sources also say one individual died at the scene and another was airlifted to a Nashville trauma center.
We reached out to CSX for information and received the following statement:
“At approximately 8:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 6, a CSX train came in contact with a pickup truck with two passengers located near Harris Road in McKenzie, Tennessee. Carroll County EMS quickly responded to the scene and later reported that both individuals were fatally injured. There were no injuries to the crew.
CSX extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragic incident and will continue to support local law enforcement as they complete the investigation.”
We also reached out to the local authorities for more information, but have yet to receive a response.
This is the second train collision to occur in the area within a month.
