Cyclists tackle the Rockabilly Ridge Trail Ride
MADISON CO., Tenn.—Cyclists converge at Pugh Bourne Park for the return of a unique statewide race.
The Tennessee Interscholastic Cycling League Race returned to Madison County this weekend for student racers to tackle the Rockabilly Ridge Trail.
The trail is an intermediate level ride designed by local biker Matt Joiner in cooperation with Madison County Parks and Recreation.
The two day event hosts cyclists from schools all across the state to put their riding skills to the test.
This particular trail ride poses a challenge for riders due to its continuous changes in elevation.
Cyclists make their way in laps around the off-road trail in a race to beat the clock.
At the end of the competition, awards are presented to participants.
“Friend had me hyped up for a couple year about doing this, so when I hit 6th grade I was excited to try it and it was hard at the start but once I got going going it was fun,” said Michael Braun, Mountain Biker.
“My dad had been training me and urging me to go onto teams, so I joined last year because she invited me and it’s really fun. It’s just a great experience and just such a great culture to be with,” said Logan Lott, Mountain Biker
This is the 13th NICA racing season for the racers in Tennessee.
