City of Bolivar discusses plans to reopen Blossom Lane Park
BOLIVAR, Tenn. — The City of Bolivar is planning to reopen a community park for residents.
In Monday night’s scheduled council meeting, the city talked about the process of reopening Blossom Lane Park.
Concerns from the community arose after alleged reports of disturbances at the park and potential dangers for children in the area.
A decision by the council moved forward to reopen the park under more effective regulations to keep the area safe.
Safety measures range from sky top cameras, hourly patrol, time restrictions, and additional amenities like basketball courts to improve the quality of life for the youth.
Bolivar residents tell us members of the community have an obligation to keep the youth protected.
“We have to watch our kids and make sure that they are protected, plus, we need to be watching our kids anyway because there are predators out here that are looking for places to hunt our children so we need to have our eyes on them. It’s not like it was when we were growing up,” said Councilwoman Caroline Miller.
The City of Bolivar also hopes to expand the resources Blossom Lane Park can provide and change the course for its future.
