Near Record Lows Monday Morning, Near Record Highs Later this Week!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
After a nice and mild weekend, we saw similar weather on Monday to kick off the work week. Morning lows dropped down to around 50° just missing the record this morning and we are in for another cool night tonight, back down into the mid 50s. The warmup gets going on Tuesday and each day will be warmer this week and as we get going into the weekend, we could be near or setting some high temperature records. Will the hot weather bring a return of the rain showers with it? That is the big question and we will have the answer for you coming up here.

THIS WEEK:
A large area of high pressure is sitting to the northeast of us and that allowed for a cold start to the work week. That area of high pressure is going to get cut off by a low pressure system down in Florida that is going to rid up the Mid-Atlantic coast line this week. That will push the high pressure to the south of us bringing a change in the winds from the northeast to the southwest later in the week. By the time a pattern change shows up, we could be back up into the upper 90s by the weekend and even setting some 45 year old temperature records.

Skies will clear out a bit tonight and the winds will be light and come out of the northeast. This will allow overnight temperatures to fall down to the mid 50s Monday night making for a cool start to Tuesday. As the day goes on, we should warm back up to the mid to upper 80s on Tuesday. The winds will be light and shift to the east or southeast and under a mostly sunny sky, it is going to be a really nice day. Tuesday night lows will fall down to around 60°.

The warmup continues on Wednesday with highs making it back up into the 90s again. Skies will be mostly sunny and the winds will be light and come out of the south. The humidity will only go up a bit and the overall dry pattern will allow temperatures to cool down to the low to mid 60s overnight into Thursday morning. Thursday will remain nice and even warmer weather is forecast. Highs will reach the mid 90s for most of us on Thursday and the winds will be light and vary in direction as the day goes on. Thursday night lows dip down to the mid 60s.

Friday is going to be another great day and perfect weather this week for Friday night Football. There will be no weather delays this week as chances for rain all week long are less than 5%. Highs on Friday will be close to the record of 98° set back in 1980. We will likely fall short by a degree or two but it is still going to be a hot one. The humidity will be low as the winds will be light and come out of the north. Friday night lows will fall down to the low to mid 60s to kick off the weekend.

THE WEEKEND:
High temperature records are in Jeopardy this weekend across West Tennessee. Highs will reach the mid to upper 90s and even a 100° or two cannot be ruled out for some of us across the region. The records are 96° on Saturday and 98° on Sunday. As of now, the record that will most likely fall will be on Saturday. We are also expecting mostly sunny skies this weekend with a few more clouds on Sunday than Saturday. The winds on Saturday will come out of the east and turn to the southeast on Sunday increasing the humidity a bit. Overall, it will NOT be a humid weekend regardless though for summertime weather in West Tennessee. Nice weather is expected to continue as we kick off next week. Not only is rain NOT in the forecast this week, but it is also not in the forecast this weekend. The drought situation is increasing and the little rain we did get last week helped, but surely not enough.
