Jackson Police announce ‘Blue Envelope Program’ to enhance communication, accessibility

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department is announcing their new “Blue Envelope Program.”

This free program is designed to make traffic stops safer and less stressful for drivers with autism, communication or sensory differences, mobility challenges, or any other medical conditions.

The blue envelope signals to officers that the driver may need more time or communication support during a traffic stop.

This provides a clear, consistent tool to help reduce misunderstanding and promote safer interactions.

As far as what goes in the blue envelope:

  • Vehicle registration card.
  • Vehicle insurance card.
  • Emergency contact information.
  • Copy of your driver’s license.

You can pick up a blue envelope at the law enforcement complex located at 234 Institute Street in Jackson.
