Jackson Fire holds stair climb honoring fallen first responders of 9/11
JACKSON, Tenn. — One local fire department takes a moment to honor fallen first responders.
A 9/11 Stair Climb is an event where participants climb 110 flights of stairs, or 2,071 steps, to honor the first responders who climbed the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
New Jackson Fire Department recruits made their way 25 times up the tower at Station 1 to honor those who sacrificed their lives.
These challenges are organized by community volunteers and often benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Participants can also add a 40-pound ruck to simulate the weight of a firefighter’s gear, and the event emphasizes remembering the sacrifices made by first responders.
