Larry Ransom

Larry Ransom, 80, of Union City passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother George Hutchison and Brother Pat Murdock will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday and from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Ransom, Jack Ransom, Robert Griffin, Mike Williams, Shane McDaniel and Johnny Martin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hawkins, Donovan Ransom, Bryan Keathley, Jerry Lynn Beachum and Harold Glenn Beachum.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Brenda Dexter and the staff of The Arbors for the love and care shown to Larry the past four years.

Larry was born January 30, 1945, in Obion County, son of the late Lester “Becie” and Stella (Wyatt) Ransom. He married Sharon (Baker) Ransom March 20, 1964. Larry had been employed from the former Reelfoot Packing Company as a truck driver and assistant dispatcher until it closed and then was employed by the former Lennox Hearth Products as a CNC operator until his retirement. He had served in the Tennessee National Guard for six years and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon Ransom of Union City; two sons, Keith Ransom and wife Julia of Union City and Kevin Ransom and wife Kim of Charlotte, North Carolina; he was Papa to his five grandchildren whom he adored, Jonathan Ransom and Rebecca Ransom both of Union City, Jack Ransom of Nashville and Sarah Ransom and Cooper Ransom both of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister, Beverly Jane McDaniel of Union City; one brother, Bobby Ransom of Union City; and several nieces and nephews including his special niece, Meagan Eason of Knoxville.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, L.T. Ransom; two sisters, Sylvia Williams and Joan Williams; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil and Mary Ann Beachum.
