Great Weather for Football Friday Night & Saturday, Few Showers Sunday Morning
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We are expecting another great night for Friday Night Lights across West Tennessee tonight. The nice weather will stick around for Saturday with sunny skies. There could be a few light showers Sunday morning but we are not expecting heavy rain and most of us will miss out. The chances are greatest northeast of Madison county to record some light rain early Sunday. Next week highs will reach the upper 90s but we should fall short of 100°. There is also a cold front coming towards the back half of next week as well and we will have all the latest forecast details coming up here.

THIS WEEK:
To start the week, a large area of high pressure was sitting to the northeast of us and that allowed for a cold start to the work week. That area of high pressure is getting get cut off by a low pressure system down in Florida that is sliding up the Mid-Atlantic coast line this week. That is pushing the high pressure to the south but it will be pushed back to the east by a warm front on Thursday. Under that warm front, temperatures will get even hotter. The winds will start to come out of the south and highs will continue to climb. Under the front, we could be back up into the upper 90s by the weekend and even setting some 45 year old temperature records.

Friday was another great day and perfect weather this week for Friday night Football. Games will start in the 80s but cool to the 70s quickly after the sun goes down. There will be no weather delays this week as chances for rain tonight are less than 5% across the region. Highs on Friday were record of 98° set back in 1980 but we fell short with most of us hitting around 95°. The humidity was still low as the winds will were light and come out of the east for the most part. Friday night lows will fall down to the low to mid 60s to kick off the weekend.

THE WEEKEND:
High temperature records are in Jeopardy this weekend across West Tennessee. Highs will reach the mid to upper 90s and even a 100° or two cannot be ruled out for some of us across the region into early next week. The records are 96° on Saturday and 98° on Sunday. As of now, the record that will most likely fall will be on Saturday. We are also expecting mostly sunny skies this weekend with a few more clouds on Sunday than Saturday. There could also be a few showers early Sunday morning but chances are 20% at best. The areas most likely to get wet will be locations north and east of Jackson. ANy shower chances will clear out by Sunday afternoon. The winds on Saturday will come out of the east and turn to the southeast on Sunday increasing the humidity a bit. Overall, it will NOT be a humid weekend regardless though for summertime weather in West Tennessee. Nice weather is expected to continue as we kick off next week. The drought situation is increasing and the little rain we did get last week helped, but surely not enough.

NEXT WEEK:
Hot and dry weather is on tap for the start of next week as well. Highs again will be near record highs in the mid to upper 90s for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Chances for rain are slim to none through Wednesday but a cold front will pass sometime early on Thursday and could bring a few showers with it. Heavy rain that would help with the drought situation is not expected but we will take anything we can get at this time. Highs on Thursday and Friday will fall down to around 90° and be a little cooler behind the front. Skies will be mostly sunny for the first half of the week and there will be a few more clouds on Thursday and Friday due to the front. The winds will come out of the south to kick off the week but move to the southwest in the middle of the week. As the front passes on Thursday, the winds will shift back to the west for the most part.
