Mostly Dry & Hot Thursday, Rain Chances Back Friday into Early Next Week!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
It has been another hot day on Wednesday for all of West Tennessee. There were a few afternoon showers near the Mississippi border but those have fizzled out. It looks like we will be dry for the remainder of the night and all day Thursday. Not everyone is going to see rain on Friday or during the weekend but we will all pick up a shot. Although most of the football games should be fine on Friday, a couple may be impacted. If you have weekend plans, this is NOT the type of rain or storms that you would consider cancelling outdoor plans for. Catch the latest right here.

THIS WEEK:
There were a few storms on Sunday that were tracking south into West Tennessee but as they reached our area, they fell apart and most of us missed out on the rain on Sunday and Monday. Rain chances are slim through Thursday but will be coming back on Friday and chances are looking decent this weekend into Monday next week as well. Highs will stay above normal through the weekend as well before cooling back down near normal as we head into the first week of fall next week. Tuesday and Wednesday were quite hot again but fell a little short of the records as highs topped out at 97°. The winds have been calm this week and should stay light and come out of the south into the weekend. We saw mostly sunny skies again on Wednesday. Overnight lows will again fall down to the mid 60s.

Thursday will be very similar to Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 90s and mostly sunny skies. There might be a few more clouds late Thursday depending on the timing of the next system but we are expecting the dry weather to linger until at least Friday afternoon. The winds will vary in direction but primarily come out of the south on Thursday. Thursday night lows will stay in the mid 60s. IT will be hot all day but the humidity will NOT play much of a factor.

The next chance for rain for most of us is coming on Friday and the next system will begin to move through the region. Some of the football Friday night could be impacted so you will need to monitor the forecast as the week goes on so you have the appropriate gear before you head out. It is not a lock we are going to see much as of now, chances for rain are at 20 on Friday. Expect that number to go up a bit this weekend when we get more confidence in the forecast. Highs on Friday will reach the low 90s and the skies will be partly cloudy. The winds will come out of the southwest and Friday night lows will also drop into the mid 60s to kick off the weekend.

THE WEEKEND:
As of now the weekend is looking quite promising for rain chances across the Mid South including all of West Tennessee. Chances for rain are around 30-40% each day so far this weekend. There is a lot in the forecast yet to be determined about which day and who is the most likely to pick up some beneficial rain showers from the next system. The system is going to move through though and cool things down some into next week.

Highs this weekend will be around 90° and expect a mix of sun and clouds. If it does rain, it will not be steady and ruin outdoor plans; as of now, the showers look quite spotty. Overnight lows will stay in the mid 60s and it will be a bit more humid this weekend than earlier in the week. Cooler weather looks to be coming next week but we will stay above average through the weekend.

NEXT WEEK:
Fall officially kicks off on Monday and although it will be cooler than the previous few days, highs will still reach the upper 80s and be above the normal high in the mid 80s. There appears to be a decent shot for showers and storms on Monday and some may linger into the day on Tuesday next week. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy on Monday and the clouds will have less coverage on Tuesday. Highs will stay above 85° through the middle of next week. Morning lows will stay in the mid to upper 60s due to a light breeze out of the south cutting off the cooler and super dry air and keeping it just to the north of us.
