Submissions now open for exhibition honoring music of rockabilly legend Carl Perkins
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Carnegie Center for Arts and History is hosting a Suede and Blue Community Art Exhibition.
It’s the first community exhibition held by the Carnegie Center. The theme is set to honor the 70th anniversary of the song “Blue Suede Shoes” by rockabilly legend and West Tennessee native Carl Perkins.
Art submissions can be in any medium including paintings and even fashion and these pieces should intend to respond to what the song could mean.
“We really want to represent a broad spectrum of local artists. We are really fortunate in Jackson to have a lot of people that practice a lot of different forms of art and so we really want to showcase them in a community exhibition,” said Aaron Hardin, director of the Carnegie Center.
Submissions are being accepted from now until November 3. The exhibition will be displayed from December to March. For more information on how you can submit an art piece, click here.
