Jail escapee pleads ‘not guilty’, search continues for 2 others

JACKSON, Tenn. — We have an update on the incident involving three escapees from the Madison County jail.
Authorities say on September 14, Dillon Decker, Cameron Campbell, and Brandon Forbes escaped the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex.
Decker and Campbell are still on the run, but the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reported that Forbes was captured Wednesday evening. Sheriff Julian Wiser told us earlier this week that law enforcement believed Forbes was still in the Madison County area.
“We did confirm a sighting of Forbes on Sunday night,” Sheriff Wiser told us.
After being apprehended, Forbes appeared for his arraignment hearing Thursday in General Sessions Court.
According to an affidavit, he was being held in the Madison County jail for a court hearing scheduled on Monday prior to his escape.
“Forbes is a Tennessee of Department’s inmate, who was in Madison County CJC for court,” said Judge Mark Patey. “Forbes was caught on camera leaving the facility without being released from custody.”
In addition to being charged with parole violation, Forbes now faces a charge for felony escape.
“Mr. Forbes, you are charged with a violation of Tennessee Code annotated 39-16-605, which is felony escape, felonious escape statue,” Judge Patey stated.
Forbes pled not guilty. Judge Patey set his bond amount at $500,000.
“The state has made a recommendation to the court to a five hundred thousand dollar bond, and I’m going to agree with the state and take the state’s recommendation,” Judge Patey stated.
As of Thursday, Campbell and Decker remain at large.
“Decker stole the utility truck and fled in it, and we last captured that vehicle on Sunday on a Flock camera going eastbound on Parkway,” Sheriff Wiser stated.
Authorities believe Decker may have fled to Middle TN, but Campbell could still be in the Jackson-Madison County area. Sheriff Wiser urges residents to stay vigilant.
