Memorial ceremony held in Jackson for soldiers lost at war
JACKSON, Tenn. — One national event makes it’s way to the Hub City to honor soldiers lost at war.
A POW/MIA memorial recognition ceremony was hosted at the Madison County Courthouse earlier Friday. The event was open to the public.
We spoke to Regetta k. Nelson, the administrative assistant at the county mayor’s office, who tells us what they had planned for the day.
“Today we have a ceremony, we are going to have a speaker that is Colonel Travis McKnight he’s going to speak for. We will have a presentation of the missing man table, we will have a the color guard here to present the flags, and we will close with the playing of taps,” said Nelson.
“Prisoner of War, Missing in Action” is a national remembrance movement that honors service members who were captured or are still unaccounted for in conflicts.
