Local authorities collaborate to resolve early morning hit-and-run incident

The following information was released to Facebook Saturday (9/20) by Crockett County Sheriff’s Dept. – Tennessee regarding an early morning hit-and-run accident in Friendship.

Early Morning Hit-and-Run Incident Resolved in Collaboration with Dyer County Authorities
Crockett County, TN [September 20, 2025] – Deputies with the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office responded to an early morning hit-and-run incident on Highway 412 near the Travel Plaza in Friendship.
At approximately 6:10 AM today, dispatchers received the initial report of the hit-and-run. Dispatchers gathered critical information and in a proactive effort to locate the suspect, dispatchers notified Dyer County and Dyersburg officials, providing a detailed description of the vehicle involved in the incident.
As the information was being given out over the radio in Dyer County, Dyer County Deputies and Dyersburg Police Department, officers observed a vehicle matching the given description on Highway 51 coming toward Dyersburg from Four Points. The vehicle matched the description provided, and the damages were consistent with what occurred; however, it is still under investigation as to who was the driver during the incident. Antonio Swift, age 43, was taken into custody and is currently facing charges related to the possession of approximately 53 grams of a Schedule VI controlled substance with intent to distribute.
