Third escapee captured in Nashville

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. –  The Madison County Sheriff’s Office confirms that escapee Dillon Decker has been taken into custody in Nashville, Tennessee.  Decker is the third, and final, escapee to be captured since their escape on September 14 from the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex.

Cameron Campbell and Brandon Forbes were captured last week. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office expressed their gratitude for the support and assistance of various agencies in the capture of Decker. “This successful arrest was made possible through the combined efforts of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI – Nashville Jackson Resident Agency, and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department,” the department posted on their Facebook.

Sheriff Wiser told us last week that the county had made additional security improvements at the facility to prevent additional incidents like this from happening again. He also said law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the escape.

“There’s an ongoing administrative investigation. There’s a lot of video footage to review. Anytime that a door is open in the jail from central control, that’s time stamped so we’re getting all that information and finding out who was on each post. When we conclude that and if there was negligence on the part of one of our employees, the necessary action will be taken,” said Wiser. “If somebody was negligent, we’ll deal with that.”

In the Facebook post announcing Decker’s apprehension, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department acknowledged the assistance and partnership with multiple agencies that ensured the three men were apprehended and brought back into custody.

“Sheriff Julian Wiser expressed his gratitude to the community, every agency, and partner who contributed to these outcomes. ‘The collaboration and tireless work from the community and our law enforcement partners have been invaluable in ensuring these individuals were returned to custody,’ Sheriff Wiser said. He also extended thanks to 26th Judicial District Attorney General Jody Pickens and Crime Stoppers, noting their continued assistance throughout the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office acknowledges the concern and support of the community during this time and reaffirms its commitment to protecting the citizens of Madison County.”
