Camille Vita Salerno Sarro
Camille Vita Salerno Sarro
October 31, 1942 – September 15, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Camille Vita Salerno Sarro, who was called home to be with the Lord on 9/15/25 at the age of 82. She departed this fully-lived life peacefully, surrounded by loved ones and embraced by grace.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Camille lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, intellect, and quiet strength. A devoted wife and mother, she touched many lives through her generosity, wisdom, and gentle spirit.
Camille was a person of quiet faith, guided by love and a belief in something greater. She found comfort in prayer, strength in scripture, and joy in the simple blessings of everyday life. She especially found joy in her family. She worked hard and kept a great sense of humor. Her values were rooted in compassion, humility, and hope—qualities that continue to inspire those who knew her.
Though we mourn Camille’s passing, we take solace in the promise of peace, eternal rest, and the thought that she is reunited with her husband August “Gus” Sarro of 32 years before his passing in 2002.
She is survived by her brother Michael, her 5 children, Lorraine, Paul and wife Victoria, John and wife Maureen, Joanne and husband Eric, Robert and wife Sheila, 15 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband August Sarro, her parents Joseph and Pauline Salerno, and her brother Tony Salerno.
A private memorial service will be held at Lee Memorial Park in Lehigh Acres, Florida, in early November 2025.
As Camille had a passion for gardening and the gratitude that nurturing and growth brought her, in lieu of flowers, the family invites you to plant a tree or plant of your liking in her honor. She did her best to battle the effects of Alzheimer’s disease and we are grateful to Legacy Hospice in Selmer, Tennessee for the loving care and support they provided. Any donations you would like to make to these organizations in her honor would be greatly appreciated.
