Haywood Volunteer Fire Department 9 closes
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — One volunteer fire department is officially closing.
District Captain Jere Wright says Haywood VFD-9 closed Tuesday morning.
This comes after a board meeting on July 22, when members unanimously voted to close the station due to conflicts with county leadership.

According to Wright, the deadline for action was Monday (VFD-9 gave the county 60 days to either remove the fire chief or make them an independent station).
According to Wright, Mayor Livingston refused to make any changes.
Livingston also told us that the county will open a new VFD in the county if the situation didn’t resolve.
