Madison County residents react to Jimmy Kimmel’s return to television
JACKSON, Tenn. — The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show is set to make its return to television Tuesday night after a brief suspension.
This suspension comes after Kimmel made a comment regarding the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. There have been large protests all around the country in support of Kimmel and free speech.
However, with many disagreeing over if Kimmel should have been suspended forever or allowed to be back on air, we asked Madison County residents on their opinion of what should have happened with the future of Kimmel.
One resident believes that Kimmel has the right to an opinion and that everyone needs to be who they are.
“Like I said, I think it was just Jimmy’s opinion. That’s what he do for a living. You know his opinion, he is very opinionated and I like that about a person because you need to be your own person,” said Gloss McQuire.
Another resident expressed that he enjoyed watching Jimmy Kimmel and is glad to have him back on his screen. However, one resident says he’s glad he is gone and his son feels that people have lost respect.
“I think we’ve lost a lot of decency. I mean I’ve only been on this earth for 21 years but I think it’s important to have sympathy for people. We are all human by the end of the day,” said Trace.
Two media companies who own ABC affiliate stations are preventing Kimmel’s show from airing and are wanting to focus more on news instead. Though, Kimmel’s show will still be shown on many Disney-owned streaming services.
The first guests to appear after the suspension of the show include actor Glen Powell and Canadian singer and songwriter Sarah McLachlan.
