On October 14, Windows 10 will no longer receive important security updates.

This means your PC will still function, but it will not be protected from security threats like viruses, malware, and scams.

Ahead of this deadline, some users can upgrade for free by going to their settings.

If your PC does not allow you to upgrade, one digital lifestyle expert suggests purchasing a new laptop or enrolling in the extended security updates program.

“When Microsoft ends that support, if you are still on that system, the scammers and everybody knows that that’s going to be more vulnerable,” said Mario Armstrong. “So, we really want to make sure that at a minimum, you’re upgrading to that Windows.”
