Hardin County Fire Department receives nearly $400,000 in federal grants
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE HARDIN COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT:
HARDIN COUNTY, TN — The Hardin County Fire Department has been awarded two grants totaling nearly $400,000 from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.
The grants will provide crucial funding for new equipment to enhance the department’s capabilities and improve firefighter safety.
The first grant, in the amount of $249,000, will be used to purchase a wildland firefighting truck. The second grant, for $148,200, will provide 38 new sets of protective gear.
“These funds are vital for our department,” said Chief Melvin Martin. “This equipment will help keep our firefighters safe and allow us to provide the best possible service to our community.” The Hardin county fire department has been awarded over 3 million in AFG grants in the past 5 years.
