Periods of Heavy Rain & Weak Storms Expected Wednesday Evening/Night
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We have one more round of showers and weak storms to move through West Tennessee this evening and tonight before quieter weather returns on Thursday. The severe storm threat looks low this evening but all of us are under a marginal (1/5) risk for storms. Some lightning and possibly some gusty winds could show up with a few of the storms later today but most of cells will just be producing brief periods of heavy rain. The showers could linger into the first half of the day on Thursday, but should clear out quickly during the day tomorrow. Some areas could see another 1-2″ of rain north of I-40 this evening so some minor flooding cannot be ruled out either. Catch a look at your Friday night and weekend forecast as well coming up here.

THIS WEEK:
The best shot for severe weather and isolated flooding events is coming Wednesday evening/night as the cold front will pass by overnight. We are under a level 1/5 (marginal risk) and a slight risk for flooding as the night goes on. Some areas could see an additional 1-2″ of rain on top of the 2-3″ many of us have already picked up this week. The greatest threat for flooding appears to be north of I-40. Highs on Wednesday reached up to around 80° and Wednesday night lows will fall to the mid 60s. The winds on Wednesday started out of the southwest but switch to the west or northwest Wednesday night as the front moves though. There will be a few lingering showers Wednesday night but by the time the sun comes up on Thursday, most of us will have seen an end to the rain.

Thursday and Friday are looking like great days across West Tennessee. There will be some clouds sticking around early Thursday morning before clearing out into the afternoon. Thursday will be a little cooler behind the front with highs reaching the upper 70s. The winds on Thursday will come out of the northwest behind the front and it could be a tad breezy at times early in the day. Friday is looking really nice with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 80s. Friday night football weather again is looking perfect. Thursday night lows will be a little cooler near 60° and we should fall into the upper 50s for Friday night into Saturday morning.
THE WEEKEND:
Great weather is on tap for the weekend across all of West Tennessee. In general expect sunny skies. There will be a few clouds, but not many. Also rain showers are not expected this weekend. Our first weekend of fall will be mild with highs reaching the low to mid 80s and morning lows sticking around between 55-60°. We could warm back up to the upper 80s by next Monday. Take advantage of the weekend weather if you like nice weather because we are not sure how many more of these nice weekends we are going to have as we get deeper into fall. The winds will come out of the northeast all weekend long across the region.
