Martin teacher surprised with Early Educator award
MARTIN, Tenn. — A West Tennessee educator is honored for her work in the classroom.
Brandie Roberts is a Pre-K educational assistant at Martin Primary School, and was working in her classroom preparing for parent teacher conference when she was surprised as one of the recipients of the annual Tennessee Early Educator Award.
She was one out of ten educators to receive this award and around 1,200 educators were nominated to be chosen.
Representatives from the Tennesseans for Quality Early Education gave Roberts her reward, and part of the award included a $1,000 check.
With the grant of this award, Roberts is ready to see her students improve by having new learning materials in her classroom.
“We will be able to find a lot more fine motor and discs that can maybe process and help them create new things, and just have fun while learning and building on those basic blocks that they are learning by not just ABCs and math,” Roberts said.
Jenny White with the Tennesseans for Quality Early Education said that Roberts stood out from all the other nominees because of her love, passion, and knowledge.
“It means a true honor that early educators are being recognized for all of the hard work they put in to their classroom and into their children and the families that they serve,” Roberts said.
Roberts said being rewarded this distinction is overwhelming, and her favorite part of teaching is getting to love her students and experience their growth.
“Just getting to love them, just getting to be there with them as they have their special moments of either buttoning their pants or figuring out that they can write their name,” said Roberts.
Roberts is proud to represent early educators and the love that they have for their children.
In addition to the check, Roberts also received an all-expense paid trip to Nashville and a shopping spree at Lakeshore Learning.
