4th grade Gibson County students celebrate Ag Day

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Local students spend the day learning about the hard work and dedication it takes to be a part of the farming industry.

Earlier Friday, 4th grade students from across Gibson County celebrated Ag Day.

The two-day event consists of students traveling to different stations to experience hands-on activities all about agriculture.

Students got to learn about farming equipment, poultry, an animal petting zoo, old style blacksmithing, and much more.

“All of are stations are hands on. We wanted something for the students that are interactive and they can really learn what agriculture felt like,” said Joetta White, TN agribility area specialist. “The teachers wanted that to where they could just get in there and get their hands dirty just like a regular farmer does.”

The two day event will continue Monday, September 29.
