Officials offer free car seat checks in Crockett County

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — Local technicians in training are helping out the community by provide free car seat checks.

Residents traveled to Court Square in Crockett County for a free community car seat check with help from the Tennessee Occupancy Protection Center.

The checks are in conjunction with trainees going through a child seat technician certification course from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office at Crockett County EMA.

“So, car-seats can be complicated. Reading a car-seat manual is a great start to using that car-seat correctly. Also, using the vehicle owner’s manual can be important, so that you know you’re using the right parts of the vehicle to install the car-seat,” said Julie Brewer, director of the TN Occupant Protection Center.

It’s also good practice to check your car seats every time you travel.
