Travis Love Jackson Tn Obituary

Travis Sidney Love, age 78, passed away on September 25, 2025, at the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Henderson, Tennessee. He was born in Jackson, Tennessee, on June 2, 1947, to the late Raymond Love, Sr. and Frances Maroney Love.

Travis spent much of his childhood in the Malesus and Medon communities and attended South Side High School. He was a man of many trades, retiring from both Norfolk Southern Railroad and American Olean Tile.

On September 29, 1978, Travis married the love of his life, Judy Cochran Love, and together they built a home in Pinson where they raised their family.

Travis enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved working outdoors, always thinking of ways to improve his home and surroundings. He was a devoted fan of old Western movies, especially those featuring John Wayne, and he could often be found relaxing in his recliner with a glass of cornbread and buttermilk in hand.

He was a proud member of Masonic Lodge #332 in Jackson, a Shriner in Memphis, and was Baptist in faith.

Travis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Cochran Love of Pinson; two children, Rodney White (Amy) and Melanie Long (Tracy), both of Jackson; his beloved dog, Suzy Mae; three grandchildren, Casey White (Christy) of Jackson, Heather Dortch (Seth) of Union City, and Christopher Long of Jackson—whom he lovingly called “Doodle Bug”; and three great-granddaughters, Lucy and River Dortch and Reese White, with Baby Girl White expected in February.

He is also survived by two brothers, Raymond Love, Jr. (Pam) of Summertown and Richard Love (Joanne) of Jackson; one sister, Diane Howell of Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Travis will be remembered as someone who would do anything for the people he loved.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Love of Sylacauga, Alabama.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Rodney White, Casey White, Tracy Long, Richard Love, Dustin Riggs, and Seth Dortch.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 29, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. Burial will follow at Big Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pinson, Tennessee.
