Union University kicks off fun-filled Family Weekend

JACKSON, Tenn. — Families are coming to the Hub City for one local university’s family weekend.

Union University is welcoming families of the bulldogs to come to the university for a fun slate of events Friday and Saturday.

The upsilon chapter of Chi Omega teamed up with Make-A-Wish by raising money with a cookout from 5 pm to 7 pm Friday.

“I do know that last year, through fundraisers, we raised enough money to be able to grant a wish this semester,” said Molly Sha Luttrell, Chi Omega Member.

According to Luttrell, this year’s turnout is even better than last year’s.

“It’s really, really great because last year there was a big hurricane coming so there was a lot of rain. We were inside, so we’re very blessed that the lord made it a beautiful day,” said Luttrell.

For families that didn’t get a ticket to the Make-A-Wish cookout, they had the ability to attend a men and women’s soccer double header vs. Delta State University, or a volleyball match against the University of West Florida, or they could explore and get to know the Hub City.

Saturday’s events feature a disc golf tournament at 8 am, brunch at 10 am, and an improv show Saturday at 9 pm. On Sunday, families are encouraged to follow their student to their new church home in the Jackson area.

Families were also welcome to attend class with their students.
