3 charged after assisting Madison County Jail escapee

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MADISON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:

MADISON COUNTY, TN – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the escape that took place at the Madison County Jail on September 14, 2025.

The successful capture of all escapees was made possible through the combined efforts of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI – Memphis and Nashville Jackson Resident Agency, Humboldt Police Department, and Metro-Nashville Police Department.

In an effort to remain transparent, Sheriff Wiser is dedicated to ensuring the community is fully informed of what has taken place since the apprehension of all escapees.

On or about September 17, 2025, the Humboldt Police Department made significant arrests in relation to this incident. Courtney N. Forbes, Patricia A. Sain, and Towanda Woodruff were arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact, for their involvement in assisting escapee Forbes in his attempt to remain at large and flee the area.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, two correctional officers have since been terminated in connection with policy violations related to this incident. Their identities, as well as details of the investigation, are being withheld at this time due to an ongoing internal and criminal investigation.

Sheriff Julian Wiser also expresses his gratitude to the community, every agency, and partner who contributed to these outcomes. A special thanks to the Humboldt Police Department and Chief Kenny Rich, the 26th Judicial District Attorney General Jody Pickens, 28th Judicial District Attorney General Frederick Agee, and Crime Stoppers.

The Sheriff’s Office acknowledges the concern and support of the community during this time and reaffirms its commitment to protecting the citizens of Madison County.
