Scammers targeting EBT, SNAP card users
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Better Business Bureau is alerting us to the most recent scam on their radar.
There have been multiple reports in West Tennessee that have been submitted to the BBB of EBT and SNAP card skimming.
Scammers are placing devices on store card swiping machines to gather your card’s information.
These are often designed to look like a legitimate card reader, but are often more bulky or loose.
Toddnetta Trice, with the BBB of the Mid-South, tells us of another way they are scamming.
“And they ask you to click a link and they send you a link to your phone right away and ask for that pin number and things of that nature,” Trice said. “Next thing you know, you are scammed out of your money as well through that phishing attempt.”
Buying groceries online with your EBT account can help avoid being scammed from the card skimmers.
